BUSINESS PROFILE

The municipality of Gentofte has 6,200 companies, the majority of which are small business - approximately 50% are one-man companies and about 25% have 2-4 staff. They are found primarily in the finance and business service sectors, as well as in the trade, hotel and restaurant sectors, which are the biggest private workplaces in the municipality (employing 33% of all employed persons). A majority of the 36,500 people in employment (41%) work in the public sector.

Since 2005, about 1,000 new workplaces have been created in the municipality, primarily in connection with the development of the Tuborg North and Tuborg South areas, where today a number of companies are localised.

Roughly 2.7% ofGentofte's total land area is currently used for business purposes.

There are a number of business areas represented in the municipality, primarily in the following fields:

• Service companies and liberal professions
• Tradesmen
• Consultancy and communications companies
• IT and bank activities

In addition, the municipality has six urban centres with a wide range of businesses.

Great business environment
Gentofte is an attractive municipality in which to localise new companies and recruit staff, as witnessed by the growing numbers of people commuting to Gentofte to work. Today about 1,000 more people commute into Gentofte than out, compared to five years ago when the commuter ‘deficit' totalled about 4,300.

Gentofte has a well-developed infrastructure with easy access to the motorway network and an efficient public transport system. From Gentofte it is only ten minutes to Copenhagen city centre, about 30 minutes to Copenhagen airport and 40 minutes via the Øresund Bridge link to Malmö and Sweden.
