The municipality of Gentofte offers a rich and varied range of leisure and cultural pursuits. Gentofte boasts good sports facilities, with many sports & leisure clubs offering a multitude of opportunities for leisure activities. Kildeskovshallen, Gentofte Stadium, and club and water sports facilities in the harbours at Skovshoved and Hellerup are the major sporting centres with a range of activities and clubs.

Gentofte enjoys a rich cultural life with many cultural activities during the course of the year: classical and popular music, dance, theatre, art exhibitions and museums. Gentofte has six libraries with a wide selection of books and electronic media. The Experimentarium, Denmark's Aquarium, Bellevue Theatre, Ordrupgaard Museum, Øregaard Museum and Gentofte Cinema all add to a rich local cultural life.

Gentofte is a green municipality with many parks and areas of natural beauty, and the beaches are safe for children and offer good swimming and other beach activities.

In the busy urban centres you can shop in the numerous local specialist shops or eat and drink in one of the many cafés and restaurants. Throughout Gentofte there are buildings of top architectural quality that reflect the municipality's development from a rural to an urban community.
